NHS Frimley Integrated Care Board’s Chief Executive Fiona Edwards has announced she will be taking on a new role in the North East having been appointed to the role of NHS England Regional Director - North East and Yorkshire.
Fiona is an experienced Chief Executive Officer, with over 30 years of leadership roles at NHS Trusts, ICBs and leading collaborative work across the South East region.
Fiona said: “Working with staff and partners across the Frimley System has been one of the standout periods during my 30 years of health and care leadership. I am so proud of all we have achieved together and in particular, our strength in equality, diversity and inclusion and in optimising the benefits of working at scale across health and care. I have no doubt that the excellent work happening in Frimley will continue to make an impact for local people and partners. I am excited about a new challenge in the North East, and moving closer to my family.”
NHS Frimley ICB Chair, Dr Priya Singh, said: “I would like to thank Fiona for her outstanding leadership and the exceptional role she has played in the creation and development of the Frimley Health and Care System as one of the best performing systems in the country. Fiona has led with integrity and kindness, building a strong team which is delivering on supporting the health of the people of Frimley.
“While all across the Frimley health and care system will miss her leadership, I am confident that she will bring the same passion and expertise to her new role as NHS England Regional Director - North East and Yorkshire.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to confirm that we have appointed Sam Burrows as Interim Chief Executive Officer for NHS Frimley ICB from 1st April 2025. Fiona will be working with Sam to enable safe transition during March 2025.”
